  • Jon Moulton // Founder

    Jon Moulton

    Jon has long experience of turnarounds, having invested in them for 30 years and with considerable success. Jon operates from Guernsey where he chairs the investing entities, which use Better Capital LLP as their consultant.

    Jon is a Chartered Accountant, a CF and a Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround Professionals. Former Managing Partner of Alchemy, Jon also previously worked with Citicorp Venture Capital in New York and London, Permira and Apax. 

    Jon is a Trustee of the UK Stem Cell Foundation. He is a very active angel investor.  He is Non-Executive Chairman of FinnCap, the stockbroker and a Member of the Advisory Board for the £3.1bn UK Regional Growth Fund.

  • Mark Aldridge // CEO

    Mark Aldridge

    Mark is one of the three founding members, alongside Jon and Nick. 

    Prior to establishing Better Capital he was a partner at BDO, responsible for the private equity advisory business. He also developed the property finance practice and led an integrated approach to providing corporate finance and business recovery advice.

    Before joining BDO, Mark was a partner at Clark Whitehill. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand.

  • Nick Sanders // Operating Partner

    Nick Sanders

    Nick Sanders is an Operating Partner.

    An engineer by qualification he spent his early career in the Aerospace industry initially with Rolls-Royce and then Lucas Aerospace.  He joined CompAir as CEO in 2002 and led the buyout of the business with the backing of Alchemy Partners.  He oversaw a major turnaround in the business with a loss of £19m p.a. being turned in to a profit of £18m p.a. over five years.

    The business was voted Private Equity Company Turnaround of the year 2006.  Purchased for a nominal sum the business was sold for over £200m in 2008 to a US competitor.

    Nick was interim CEO of Deloro Stellite (a Duke Street investment) immediately before joining Better Capital.

  • Thierry Bouzac // Operating Partner

    Thierry Bouzac

    Thierry is an Operating Partner within the portfolio team and chairs the boards of Omnico and Santia.

    Thierry has significant pan-European turnaround experience. Before joining Better Capital he held a number of European sales and marketing positions with Valeo and Kodak before moving into general management roles across Europe and Asia with Ingersoll Rand. He ran the European businesses of CompAir and following the sale to Gardner Denver he became president of their EMEA Industrial Compressor group.  

    Thierry holds a masters in Engineering (INSA Lyon) and an MBA from HEC (France), is fluent in French and speaks German.

  • Peter Mottershead // Operating Partner

    Peter Mottershead

    Peter joined Better Capital as an Operating Partner in October 2014.

    He is a Chartered Engineer by background. Peter has spent his career within the Technology and Manufacturing sectors. His most recent executive appointments were as Chief Executive of Anglian Home Improvements Group Ltd and prior to that Industrial Control Services Group PLC, both companies that underwent significant business improvement programs resulting in a significant increase in stakeholder benefit and value. He has also more recently been involved in a number of other businesses as Non-Executive Chairman.

  • Simon Pilling // Operating Partner

    Simon Pilling

    Simon has a business and technology outsourcing services background and has managed substantial businesses across both public and private sectors.

    Simon was formerly Chief Operating Officer of Capita PLC, a FTSE 100 company, where he oversaw the operations and financial performance of the businesses. Prior to joining the Board in 2006, in addition to his Divisional Management role, Simon also held executive responsibility for delivering the London Congestion Charging Scheme and establishing the India offshore business for Capita.

  • Rob Asplin // Managing Director

    Rob Asplin

    Rob joined Better Capital shortly after its formation in January 2010 and leads the transacting team.

    Prior to this he was an M&A advisor specialising in restructuring transactions and accelerated processes of distressed businesses. 

    Previous experience includes BDO Corporate Finance, a specialist M&A boutique and Lloyds Banking Group. Rob is a Durham University graduate and qualified accountant.

    Andrew Skinner

    Andy joined Better Capital in January 2014 from the Business Restructuring department of PwC.

    He's a chartered accountant, is JIEB qualified and a graduate of York University.

  • Tom Wright // Assistant Director

    Tom Wright

    Tom joined Better Capital in September 2011.

    He read Economics and Finance at the University of Bristol in 2005 and trained at PwC where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008. Following this Tom transferred to the Transaction Services department at PwC where he provided financial due diligence advice for a range of Private Equity and Corporate clients.

    Ben joined the transacting team in March 2013.

    He has a background in M&A Advisory and joined from Lincoln International, where he specialised in mid-market transactions.

    Ben qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG and is a Manchester University graduate.

  • Richard Leighton // Manager

    Richard Leighton

    Richard joined Better Capital in April 2013.

    Prior to this he had worked in the Transaction Services team at Deloitte since 2008, advising clients on a broad range of transactions across various sectors. 

    Richard is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.

    Jan-Henning Saitz

    Jan joined Better Capital in July 2013 and works in the transacting team. He is also helping to establish Better Capital’s presence in Germany.

    Prior to joining Better Capital, he gained experience in investment banking, private equity and restructuring at various firms including Altium Capital and PwC. He also worked as assistant to the CEO for a PE-backed business in Germany.

    Jan holds a Masters in Management (Distinction) from London Business School and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim.

    Bonnie Kraus

    Bonnie sits in the portfolio team and is also responsible for investor relations.

    Prior to joining Better Capital Bonnie advised a range of clients, including corporates, private equity houses and banks on acquisitions and disposals initially at Arthur Andersen and latterly at BDO.  She worked in both corporate finance and transaction services teams and developed a particular focus on real estate finance and distressed M&A.  

    Bonnie read Economics at UCL and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen.

    Shravin Mittal

    Shravin joined Better Capital in September 2014.

    Prior to joining Better Capital, he had worked as a manager at Bharti Airtel (mobile telecommunications). He has also worked in Investment Banking, Accounting and Sales & Trading at firms including J.P.Morgan, E&Y and Merrill Lynch.

    Shravin holds a MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor degree in Account & Finance from the University of Bath.

    She holds an MBA from Cass Business School and read Information Management at UCL. 

    Sei has a background in organisational development and has provided post M&A integration advice to clients in the UK and South Korea.

  • Peter Soliman // Legal Consultant

    Peter Soliman

    Peter is a consultant in-house legal counsel.

    He is a dual-qualified solicitor (Australia / England & Wales) and since 2001 has been advising on the many aspects of corporate restructurings, workouts, insolvency and distressed M&A in connection with underperforming and financially distressed businesses.

    Prior to joining Better Capital, Peter had worked with leading City of London law firms, CMS Cameron McKenna and Pinsent Masons. He now consults to the Better Capital Funds and their portfolio businesses.

    Peter graduated with bachelor’s degrees in accountancy and in law and holds a master’s degree from the University of New South Wales. He is also a Chartered Company Secretary with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators.

    Gerard Lloyd

    Gerard Lloyd is a Solicitor and holds a degree in accountancy and law from the University of Wales (Cardiff).

    From 2001 to April 2009, he was Head of Legal at SVG Capital plc, a UK quoted investment trust which is a private equity investor and fund management and advisory business. Between 1993 and 2001, he was the legal director at Schroder Ventures Holdings Limited where he was responsible for all legal matters relating to the structuring and formation of Schroder Ventures funds. Previously he was Company Secretary at Parker Pen - a Jon Moulton led turnaround.

    From 2001 to April 2009, he was Head of Finance and latterly Head of Corporate Finance at SVG Capital plc, a UK quoted investment trust which is a private equity investor and fund management and advisory business. In 1988, Chris joined Schroder Ventures Holdings Limited, London, in a financial reporting and fund structuring role. He was appointed Finance Director in 1996.
